Is it a warning to Americans that they will loose their land if they let more immigrants in?
Anyway, my guess is that native Americans must have been a lot more friendly to White people when they just came to this land. Hospitality is the nature of people in less advanced society. The more advanced a society is, the less hospitable the people are because people in more advanced society have a stronger sense of ownership.

Hey.
Im new to photography and am looking into photography for local music venues.
I have a D40 with its standard 18-55mm lens but I'm looking for a lens with a better aperture.
I am looking to get the Nikon 55mm f1.8 which is around 80.
As this is not an AF-S lens and can not focus automatically, will it sitll work with the D40 if I use manual focus?

I am right now on L1A visa recently filed for extension and still in processing.
I am planning to get married to my girlfriend here and apply for greencard.
Would appreciate information on how to proceed with that and wheather the L1 extension would affect it in anyway.
Thank You

I am currently working for company A under H1B visa. Company B recently bought all of Company As Assets. I am still working for Company A (doing clean-up work) but will be laid off shortly (within a month). Company B offered me a similar position.
I read that since Company B bought all the assets and runs a similar business they would be considered as "successor of interest, therefore, we would not need to file a transfer with USCIS and a simple letter would be sufficient.
How does that work exactly? Can I travel with my old visa and the letter? What happens if later on Company A is dissolved? Cancel the visa?
I think that Company B is ready to sponsor me for the Green Card. Im not sure that they would be ready to pay for the fees for the transfer AND the green card now. I would really like to start the Green card process as soon as possible since it takes so long. I understand that it might be better to file a transfer to be on the safe side but if I can save some of the fees it would be great.
Thank you so much for your feedback.

What is a CAT? Not an animal, not a medical procedure, but a "Change of Attitude Transformation". The old INS may have morphed into the USCIS, the CBP and ICE, but the attitudes toward immigrants have not changed much since I worked there 30 years ago. As General Attorneys (Nationality) in the 1970s, our mantra was "when in doubt, send it out!" meaning that rather than recommend that a naturalization petition be granted, if we had the slightest degree of doubt, the safest course was to send the applicant's file to the investigations branch. Not to do so would risk...

Mexican-born Carlos Santana is definitely music royalty in his adopted country. He was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and Rolling Stone Magazine listed him as #15 on the 100 greatest musical artists of all time. Tonight he was on American Idol's finale show. He's about to start a two year engagement at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. And, most importantly, he's about to be the honored guest at the annual benefit dinner for the American Immigration Law Foundation. See you at the event.

I am in my 5th yr of H1, and my H1 status will expire next year on Nov 1, 2011.
My I140 filed and is with the appeal Office since jan 2009, with no decision.
I wanted to know what my options are with the current scenario.
What are the chances of this appeal being approved? ( it was denied based on 5 yrs of education vs 6 years)
If the appeal is denied, can I transfer the Labor to an EB3, with the same Priority Date?
Since there is no decision yet, do I have to file another Labor cert ( a new one) for H1 extension.
How can I still maintain this priority date?
If I have to file a new Labor cert, can that be done in EB2,with a different job title?

USCIS has announced that it is working on a rule to create an electronic registration system for H-1B employers subject to the annual cap. Employers would first register an application and be allocated an H-1B cap number and then would file the case. The idea is that employers would need to register to claim an H-1B cap number first and then if they are selected, they then would prepare and file the case. Right now, employers have to go to all the trouble of preparing a case that may be rejected simply because the visa allocation is filled. I think...

USCIS has reminded all applicants for Adjustment of Status, Asylum, Legalization and Temporary Protected Status to obtain an Advance Parole (AP) document before traveling abroad. AP allows an applicant to re-enter the U.S. after traveling abroad.
In order to obtain Advance Parole, individuals must file Form I-131, Application for Travel Document to USCIS. The USCIS cautions individuals planning on traveling abroad to file Form I-131 well in advance of their travel plans (approximately 90 days before) in order to prevent possible conflicts.
We suggest all applicants of I-131 to file it in time to get the AP approval before leaving the U.S., otherwise it could have dire consequences and may result in an individual not being able to re-enter. Therefore, individuals that have a pending I-485 are encouraged to apply for Advance Parole before traveling abroad for easier re-entry if the circumstances of their current status changes.
